5 Reasons Why You Should Blog

It is very easy to get wrapped up in photographing and neglect your business. It is also easy to become stale, shooting in the same way.

A blog can help you grow as a photographer because it will allow you to challenge yourself to produce something different to show on your blog. Knowing that potential clients are viewing your images is one of the best motivators  to keep writing new blogs.

1. REINFORCES YOUR BRAND

It is important to have a strong brand (more on that in another post) by regular blogging, you reinforce your brand.

By blogging you set the standard of  business character and personality of your company.

In turn branding will bring in new customers.

2. CHANNEL YOUR INNER PERSONALITY

People want to  get to know YOU the actual person behind your business! Sharing your stories and experiences that sit alongside  your images.

Potential clients will see more of who you are than they will on Instagram or Facebook and other social media channels. It can be a place to let people get to know the real you behind the camera.

3. NEW OPPORTUNITIES

We know putting yourself out there can be scary but your clients/customers NEED a way to find you. Google loves blogs, so you’re far more likely to show up if somebody searches for something you’ve shared on your blog than if you’d just shared it on social media. Share away and be proud of what you do.

One post per week or even bi-weekly, written with passion and genuine interest, transmits your enthusiasm for what you do, to those reading. Speak from the Heart and let your customers in.

4. BLOGS GIVE PEOPLE SOMETHING TO SHARE

People LOVE something to share, so what better advertisement than having someone else share your work and letting the world know about YOU. They can share your home page or an “about” but why not become the ‘Go to expert’. Write about things within your genre of photography. Ask yourself ‘What do people want to know about my photography? Write about those common problems people have. Sounds simple really doesn’t it, that’s because it is. If it is informative to your audience, then they will share and in turn, their friends will share and they will share………. I am sure you get the picture!

Make it useful and off you go.

5. DEVELOP AND STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIPS WITH EXISTING AND NEW CUSTOMERS

This is REALLY IMPORTANT.

Customer engagement is an immensely important element of online marketing and branding. You may be looking for new customers but don’t forget your existing ones!

Blogging provides the opportunity for you to connect with your existing and potential customers in a different, more conversational way.

Build trust with your target audience through high quality content that they find relevant. Write great blogs on your shoots that you have already done. Share your customers reactions when they take delivery of their wall art and albums. If you can show you have happy customers, this encourages new happy customers. Share your feedback from work you have already done, let them tell everyone else how great you are.

With a comment section, you will also be able to follow the visitors’ responses to your posts, and you will be able to respond directly to their comments, which is huge in building trust and relationships.

Throw out the rule book and the parameters you set yourself and be you.
